Lough Allen lies at the top of the Shannon Navigation. It is a medium size lake and is surrounded by largely traditional farming land with 3 towns at the 3 corners of its mainly triangular shape. Formerly a mining area, there is now little traditional Industry but much Enterprise and Artistic activity.
